We
have seen the loss of an incalculable amount of plants and animals. Think of
all the flora and fauna that humanity has recorded through out the millennia
and those that we never will. I want to
put the idea of protection of plants and animals through the means of habitat
preservation in everyones head. I understand the problems with that, that
development can’t happen without the removal of something.
There are many species that we can’t
get back like the Japanese wolf or the Dusky Flying fox. What if even though we
can’t get them back we preserved the habitat that they once lived in, on the
hope that newly extinct species might not have gone extinct with the examples
of the Tasmanian Tiger or the passenger pigeon. Both of which we both found
examples of after we declared them extinct. If we preserve the lands in which
the animals are dyeing in I feel that this would give at least a fighting
chance for them to at least survive in.
There are species like the Franklin
tree which are still alive and even though we have the best intentions and want
to put them back in there natural environment, unfortunately we can’t because
the environment is no longer habitable for these species. There is also the
politics that keep them from repopulating there habitat for monetary reasons.
Another reason to keep environmental
areas is for unfound creatures and flora, an example of this is the six foot
tall Billy ape. The question can be poised that if something that big can still
remain hidden what are the possibilities that other animals and plants aren’t
still hidden.
They
probably aren’t six feet tall, and they are probably hide well and are hidden
in the nock and crannies of the environment. We should Protect the environment
so that we can find these hiding little things alive and happy.
I think that our future is instead
of building horizontally to build vertically. With newer building techniques
taller buildings are going up all around the world. I would want to see sky
scrapers that hold entire cities or even counties. Their are scientists and
architects working to better use the land we have by building these towers. I
like the idea of hoping in an elevator of a tram and getting to school or work.
I know it is a big change but with the way we are growing in numbers the best
way to keep going is to expand upward. This would also led to more farm land
for food and plants.
We as the dominate species, in
relation with the earth, have a need to change, not only to fulfill our
survival instinct, but to protect the other species on our little planet.
Whether is to protect the possible flora and fauna, or to reintroduce the
species we have in captivity, and the plants and animals that we have yet to discover.
As humans have a need to grow I would like to see us grow in a different
direction.

I like your idea to preserve habitat of species that went extinct. I think that it might be a way to save an endangered habitat and protect other species who might also be in danger of becoming extinct.
thank you for you thoughts. this over arcing theory is a pleasurable benifit.
